RAYNA GRANGER

"Horsemanship through Feel & Release is more than an approach to horses and horse handling, it is a way of life. It is a philosophy of life. It is based on love, mutual respect, understanding, trust, and a sense of commitment to see things through.

It is the freedom to create in the moment, to be flexible, to blend together, as well as to have the strength to follow through, finding understanding and purpose together, as one.

These principles apply to all relationships and are not limited to horse or human.

I’m talking about not so much emphasis on pressure/release - stacking on the pressure until you get the desired response, at any cost to your relationship, and then reward by release - but rather about releasing the horse to the desired maneuver, thereby creating lightness and willingness in the horse and his relationship to the human.

I’m approaching the horse with the intent of teaching him to become a thinking partner, and building in the understanding by preparing the horse. I’m setting him up to succeed by freeing the horse physically, mentally, and emotionally to do the job in mind, which in itself is reward enough, allowing for whatever time is befitting to the horse.

This takes time to learn and I have found it is well worth the time to have the result of an intelligent and thoughtful partner in a horse. It is not so difficult to learn, but may require a shift of intent in the overall approach to horsemanship."

If this approach to horsemanship sounds right for you and your horse, or you would like to learn more about this method, contact Rayna for your training, coaching or clinics.

Rayna offers training for your young horse under saddle, restarting older horses, horses with people problems, and ground handling at any age. This includes weekly sessions with the horse and owner.  Rayna feels that the best training program comes with patience, feel and understanding, not force and intimidation.

Rayna also offers horsemanship  coaching and clinics for all ages at Misty Valley Farm or at a student's location.
